Michaf has started and reserved Riesel base 31 and is continuing. There are currently 43 k's remaining at n=5K.

Reserving k=64518 for Sierp base 16 up to n=100K.
This is by far the highest weight k remaining. The file is 50% larger than any other. Getting rid of it will help speed up the big sieve. |

Status report on k=2908 for Sierpinski Base 16:
Tested up to n=75810 as of this posting. I switched to Gary's provided sieve file today, since at p=400G it was sieved much deeper than my original sieving (about p=121G). Still no primes as of yet. Last fiddled with by mdettweiler on 2007-12-28 at 02:58 Reason: fixed a typo |

It didn't take long after reserving heavy-weight (relatively speaking) k=64518 for Sierp base 16.
64518*16^36998+1 is prime 53 k's remaining. That removes 9726 testing candidates from the big sieve. Much better!

Sierpinski Base 16 k=2908 status report:
Now at n=83622. This is sort of a milestone because I am now in top-5000 territory, so if I find a prime, it will be reportable! Still hoping for a prime on this one before I reach n=100k and release it. It's very low weight (relatively speaking) but I'm still hoping I'll be able to knock it out.

I am reserving Riesel base 16 up to n=25K for all k's. I started on it Friday. There are 40 k's remaining at n=19K. I'll post what is remaining on Sunday after it has completed.
I've temporarily stopped the 'big' sieve on all k's for Sierp base 16 to n=200K at P=450G in order to do this. What I think I'll do is sieve all of the Riesel base 16 k's to n=200K to P=400G and then post all of those sieved files. I'll then continue on the Sierp sieving. Gary |

Since I'll be finishing up Sierp. Base 16 k=2908, prime or no prime, in less than a week, I think I'd better reserve some more work. That way if I do find a prime, I've got some more work to switch my computer to immediately.
I've decided to reserve the Riesel Base 13 k=288 up to n=100k, since it shouldn't be too big of an effort to do, not to mention the presieved file available. I'll start working on it as soon as I'm done with my Sierp. Base 16 k=2908.

The estimate is based on a Dell core-duo 1.66 Ghz desktop that LLR's about like a 3.0 Ghz P4 desktop. Test/candidate at n=62.3K was ~447 secs. Just thought I'd give you a heads up. It may still be about 2 weeks before we get the team drive started on Sierp base 16 so this may work for your resources. If not, you can still feel free to test another one of the Sierp base 16 k's or Riesel base 16 k's after I get those sieved to P=400G within about 2-3 days. Both would probably still be less CPU time to complete to n=100K. Gary Last fiddled with by gd_barnes on 2007-12-30 at 06:28 |
