Inspired by Dr. Fermi's paradox, I ask: If such eversion is possible AND it is so much more powerful than anything else (post-BB, that is) we know about, why can't we see evidence that it has already happened?

Fusion_power:

My apologies.

A while ago I started reading this thread, including your comment "So why haven't we seen evidence of such a cosmic explosion? or have we?", which reminded me of the Fermi Paradox, which I looked up to get an accurate quote, then noticed some interesting stuff in an associated discussion, which led to further Webbrowsing.

Eventually I returned to this thread, taking up where I left off, and got down to your most recent posting. When I read your "spotlight" remark, I thought, "Yeah, we ought to notice that. But there hasn't been any superduperhypernova-like ring of blown out debris found so far, has there? Hey, that's like the Fermi Paradox. Let's ask". But by then I'd entirely (subconscious says: "not entirely") forgotten what provoked my original musing about Fermi, so I just blurted it out.

Then about 15 seconds after I pressed "Submit", my conscious finally answered the knocking on the door by my subconscious, who said, in its usual succinct way, "It's already been done. Look back." And there it was.

This thread inspired me to re-read Sagan's "Contact" -- gotta buy or rent the video again.

Several characters invoke the Fermi Paradox regarding evidence of E.T.'s...

Others respond with the zoo scenario, among several...

The book ends with the line about every civilization being able to calculate the same value for pi...

I suppose he's discounting the possibility of life developing in a region that is distorted enough to change the value of pi? How much curvature is needed to throw off the 10 millionth digit?

Classic stuff...

-- Actually, since noone can measure pi to even 50 digits, the curvature of space should have no effect on what a race thinks pi equals. Unless it somehow makes them come up with different equations for the calculation?

I suppose if the trig identities were skewed, then it would cascade thru the integrals and substitutions ... strange.

"Contact" (the movie) doesn't even talk about PI matter shown at the end of the book.

I think they thought it was tough for the average viewer of the movie...

Here is a loads of facts of black holes, it might answer some questions !

I would be very interested to know in what would happened if 2 black holes would collide
