Today, TPS and PrimeGrid each have 557 primes to their names and are jointly #1 by count on http://primes.utm.edu/bios/top20.php...&by=PrimesRank

That's 2*557/5000 or 22.28% of the top5000, achieved by starting some 4-5 months ago.

Unfortunately, the old n=333,333 primes will soon be pushed out of the list by the newer n=333,333 primes and by primes found from other projects. But we'll regain in the #1 spot soon after the n=500,000 effort begins

There are about 330 primes below TPS in the list. Once these have been pushed out, TPS & Primegrid will gain about 165 a piece (330/2) while PIES will lose about 90 and RPS will lose 27. That will give you a cushion of about 260 primes over PIES. That's the good news.

Now for the bad news. From that point onwards, your count will steadily drop. This is going to continue regardless of how fast you find new primes with the 500K search, until all the 333333 primes have been pushed out (all 1400 of them). I guess it will take about a year for that to happen (unless the 500k effort itself ramps up). Only afterwards you'll start to see the numbers climb again. But in the meanwhile, an additional 500 odd primes entering the list (other than from TPS/PrimeGrid ) will cause you to lose #1 spot again

The first primes found by TPS/PG didn't drop off yet. If you submitted a new prime that's above 14G, it shouldn't drop off until several months from now.

edit: For the current status of the top 5000 list, see: http://primes.utm.edu/primes/lists/all.txt The lowest TPS/PG prime is at #4896, so it will drop off in about 1-2 weeks.

Don't know about 500k testing, but PrimeGrid just launched thier Cullen/Woodall Prime Search.

No, there are still more than a thousand n=333,333 primes on the top 5000 list. It'll take a few more months for all of the n=333,333 primes to drop off.
