Maybe I'm just not very sharp today, but I didn't see an explanation for the slowdown in the last few posts.

I try to avoid mentioning utter mysteries, so here's a few facts:

.20950553 * 4880000 = 1022387 (to the nearest integer)

.20950553 * 332192831 = 69596235 (to the nearest integer)

Hi Yxine

<StatAddict>
It has been a long time since the last MasterPrime.xls (10/04/2007)
Do you have time to post a new one?
</StatAddict>

Thanks a lot.

Default M332,192,831 Update

I've updated my website www.StarQwest.org regarding the P-1 factoring anomaly and with further info on the testing of this number. Check out the Team StarQwest page of my site if you're interested. I'll keep you posted on this test. The current expected completion of P-1 and start of LL is September 15th, 2007.

P-1 factoring is now 65% complete. It will finish around September 29th, 2007, and if no factor is found, I will begin the LL test. I will keep updating www.StarQwest.org every time a new milestone is reached.

P-1 factoring is complete! No factor was found, so I began the LL test. I am currently at iteration 7500. It takes about 0.950 seconds per iteration, so I should complete about 90,000 per day. Check out www.StarQwest.org, as I have updated it with the new information.

There may be a case for waiting until v 25 is stable, since it can devote multiple cores to a single LL test. (Even if you don't have a dual or multi core processor now, you will probably get one in due course.)

It would be a shame to start now with version 24 only to discover that the stable 25 can't read the save file. Even worse would be to start with 25 only to discover that a bug means that all your effort has been wasted.

Personally, if I only had one dual core machine, I would not devote both cores to testing such a huge exponent because it would cause my stats to stagnate for years and my rankings to fall.

Then again, it's your decision.

Where can I download v.25 and when will the stable version be available? I have a Pentium D (two core) computer, and this would hopefully shorten the time down to 5 years (from 10 years), and when I get a new computer (probably next summer), it would shorten down to probably 2 or 3 years.

Go to the software forum and look for threads with version 25 in the title. But be warned that all version 25's are still in the testing phase. Version 24 is still probably the version of choice unless you like testing new software.

I notice from your website that you've gotten down to 0.6446 seconds/iteration using v25... Do you have an updated ETA?
