hey just doing a small poll

what type of cpu do you have

what temp does it run at

how often do you get errors
( aproximate is fine)

what do you do to cool it

11 P4 1.6A @ 2303 - 2400

Run about 10 - 12 C above board temperature. Normally 39-40 C. On a very hot day up to 43C.

I have had 2 errors erlier, adjusted MHz and Vcore. No problem after that.

Use stock HSF, but have added under-side cooling to the boards - P4S333s.

XP 1800+ running at 51c to 61c! This is from the bios reading of my Gigabyte 7vrxp. Using the stock AMD fan. I know it is hot and I do see some errors from prime95 when the day is hot. :(

I was counting on a new Barton cpu and I would upgrade the cooling at the same time. Now I am at a loss. Maybe I should treat my 1800+ better since the Barton is further down the road.

Get a decent cooler for your rig and it will like you more. :D :D

Athlon 1900 runs at 49C/120F with an AMD supplied cooler and fan,
but as yet have not managed to run Prime95 for more than about 2 Minutes!!

I am working on the problem and will try a more recent Bios for my new Elite K7S5A MB shortly.

My XP2000 runs at the same temp with no problems. Are you sure it's the temp that is the problem??

Duron 1100 (overclocked to 1210) running at 53c with Zalman flower heatsink and fan. It's hot but it keeps my feet warm!
No errors.

Check your ram with Memtest. That has always been my problem.

My CPU is running a "cool" 53 degrees C and sometimes higher (up to 57 degrees C the day I crashed the HDD). The motherboard goes up to 43 degrees C. :(

So, I decided to open the box and I moved the front fan to put it close to the 2 HDD. They were really really hot. The fan is "hanging" with some tiny wires but it works. So far, so good. The HDDs are cool and the motherboard and CPU are running at a cooler temperature: 38 degrees C and 53 degrees C (today is still a hot day).

By the way, despite all the heat, I've never seen Prime95 reporting an error at the end of my work. Is there a way to know if there was an error ? Before and / or after double check ?

I noticed that thousands of exponents have been re-released because of errors. But I doubt a double check has been performed already.

Does that mean that all these exponents were reported with errors after the 1st LL test ?

How would prime95 know the result is wrong? All it knows is that in the middle of the work, it noticed a 'hardware error'. Upon each error, it rewinds the work to last checkpoint. Those are written in your result file.
