You may be surprised to see what an older HP goes for now.

http://www.hpmuseum.org/

We sold a mint HP32S, which is hardly a real HP, although it was RPN, to a Japanese collector for $150. We paid $25 for it from the local university bookstore where it had been collecting dust, in its original packaging, for several years. This was 3-4 years ago. They go for $300+ now.

Why'd you hafta make me cry again, Xyzzy?

... but at least you kept this thread going off-off-off-topic (for which my book's respect ranks waaaay behind amoebas, though).

Last fiddled with by cheesehead on 2007-06-06 at 01:29 Reason: I posted my HP-25 story to hpmuseum.org just after it started. #4

would be more interesting to be able to divide by multiplying... w/o calculating the inverse , of course

I still have mine. I am holding it in my hand. I would not part with it for a
mere $300.

In the right condition, very much so.

Personally, we'd be very happy with a mint 15C.

Dear NFS/Bamboo/1964/Gerbil-Diets/VintageHP-Calculators thread:

Welcome to your new home. We here at American Professional Moving and Thread Relocation Services hope your moving experience was a pleasant one.

Your fellow transplantee, the "Happy Bimbo" thread was getting a bit lonely, anyway.

===============

Moderator's note:

We hope that having two bamboo-related threads in the same subforum will not lead to any violence. Bamboo shootings are just so messy.

(And as Paul will surely know from first-hand experience, bamboos are notorious for grassing on one another.)

((To our non-UK readers, don't even try to understand that, it only make sense in certain part of Britain. If you know any Scousers or Mancs, perhaps they will be willing to explain, although you may have to first make it past a barrage of "Wot?"s and blank stares, eventually morphing into hostility. Consider yourself warned, and proceed at your own risk.))

Default HP calcs

Memories of working in a university bookstore. Students would come in with an old HP calculator in need of batteries, balk at the price, and buy an inexpensive calculator. I offered to buy quite a few old calculators.

I have managed to collect a 35, 45, 46, 55, 65, 67, 10A, 19C, 29C and a real classic: 9100A.

Anyone who mails a functional HP RPN calculator to mersenneforum.org headquarters will receive:

An infinite message edit time.
A custom title of their choice that is not mangled by the Gerbils.
Their username highlighted in any color they choose, other than the moderator green or the super moderator red.
If the above mentioned HP calculator is a clean 15C Voyager model, we will, in addition to the goodies above, name a troll after you and submit an application on your behalf to the much sought after secret DH forum. However, admittance to the secret DH forum is not guaranteed.

Note that HP 12C models are not eligible for this incredible offer, nor are any HP calculators that use RPL instead of RPN.

Gerbil1: Send us a Ford GT40 and the forum is yours.
Gerbil2: Yeah!

Edit: Offer rescinded due to recent developments!
