Default P-1 stage offered by itself?

I have a colligation of different PCs out here :) . Some are P3s with a monstrous amount of RAM, some are P4s with just enough RAM to run 2000 , and some i am wondering why i even run them :) .

Typically P-1 stages has about a 3% chance of clearing an exponent right ? What if P-1 stage was offered as an assignment for PrimeNet ? In particular i have access to a P3 machine (that is only a file server, not used much ) w/ 3Gb of ram . I think it usually has a 6% chance of clearing with P-1. If that machine could just do P-1 for PrimeNet, would that would be a better diversification of labor :) ?

This has been brought up a few times. Making P-1 factoring a type of work would require re-writing the code for Primenet, or a complete re-make of Primenet (which I think is still in the works....). I believe this is one of the things which has been definitely put on the "to-do" list for the new server. For now you can most likely just manually ask George to get a large range of exponents that need to be P-1 factored. Or maybe you could help knock off a 79M for some ambitious Gimpster, (looking your way Pagefault, if you haven't gotten it resolved yet).

*Hint, move this to Server forum?

What you could do is to reserve a huge lot of first timers. If you have the sequential switch set, the machine would run through the P-1 first. Then you could manually unreserve all the exponents that have gone through P-1 after you report the results in. Then reserve more. The fact that P-1 has been done does get noted.
