Go to this website:

http://mersenne.org/ips/tops.shtml

There will be two different lists, "Top Primality Test Producers Awards" and "Top Factoring Producers Awards." Under factoring awards, click on the "top 2001 - 3000." I am currently ranked #2364 with 1.585 CPU years of factoring, but I will get ~20 more after M332,192,831 finishes, which will put my rank up to about #350. I will need ~105 CPU years to get into the top 100, which translates into trial factoring a few hundred exponents in the M40,000,000 range.

Current 41M exponents earn 0,117 P90 years when factored from 62 to 68 bits and 0,120 P90 years when factored from 63 to 68 bits (a bit strange, but this has been verified by me on some 30 cases at least.)

This means that to get 105 P90 years one needs to trial factor not a few hundred but more like a thousand exponents.

That's not just strange, it seems downright wrong. Surely, there is no way, factoring from 63 to 68 bits takes more work than 62 to 68 bits.

I think we should let Mr. Woltman know about this.

It wouldn't run for me, all I got was

Error: Work-to-do file contained bad LL exponent: 100000007

What did I do wrong?

It works just fine on my computer. Make sure you follow these steps EXACTLY:

1. Download the file M100,000,007.rar from the Team StarQwest page.

2. Unzip the file using WinRAR. You will get a folder titled "M100,000,007" which will be approximately 43MB in size.

3. Open up the folder and double click on Prime95.

When you do this, you should see what is shown in the JPEG image below. If you continue to get this error, you may try the following:

1. This version of Prime95 is v.24.14. Make sure you already have this version installed on your computer.

2. A slower (less than 2GHz) computer may not be able to perform iterations on a number of this size (I am not 100% sure of this since I haven't tested it), but try it on a newer computer and see if you still get the same results.

3. I don't think you have to be a member of Team StarQwest for this to work, although I am not 100% sure of this either.

I hope you can get it to work. You won't get any GIMPS credit for it since the number has already been tested and is being doublechecked by Yxine, and this Prime95 is not connected to Primenet, but nonetheless it is kind of cool to see a 30 million digit number complete its test. If you can get it to work, it is only 1,005 iterations- it takes no more than 5 minutes on a Pentium 4 computer.

Default M332,192,831 Updates

Factoring to 2^77 on M332,192,831 is complete! No factor was found. I am now P-1 factoring, although stage 1 is going to take 80 days. I don't even want to know how long stage 2 will take. However, once P-1 is complete, if no factor is found, I will begin the LL test, which will take a veeeerrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyy long time.

Yxine: You will probably have to e-mail George Woltman to get credit for M100,000,007. That's what I had to do (it doesn't automatically credit it to your account because it's >79.3M), and he credited my account with 79.4 CPU years. I will also have to e-mail him about my factoring on M332,192,831, which should be worth approximately 20 CPU years.

Yep, I'll contact George for credit.

Yxine: Could you please send me the residues for M100,000,007 at iterations 81 - 89 million and at iterations 91 - 99 million? I lost all of my residues after 80 million some time back, and the only ones I would recover were the ones I had posted on this forum (90 million, 100 million, final 18 residues). If you have them, I would very much appreciate it, so I can add them back to my website. Thanks.

P.S. M332,192,831 is 9.42% complete with P-1 stage 1 factoring. 75 more days until stage 2...

So stage 2 may start exactly at the release date of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows...
