  1. (UK / Ireland) a shop selling household groceries, toys, gimmicks etc, that are typically priced at a pound each.
Considering the UK currency is called "pound", I equated it to a "dollar store", which is correct according to this definition. (but, obviously, priced at a pound instead of at a dollar)
