I really don't know if this is an AVX problem. I wrote a small programm with AVX functions, the programm run well untill he comes to the AVX instructions and give "Illegal instruction (core dumped)"....

On a E5420 Xeon server running Linux 2.6.16.60-0.30-smp x86_64, mprime 64 bitis crashing directly after the launch throwing a "Floating exception (core dumped)"

What you have is the worst case actually, your system (Intel 7300 Memory Controller) is indeed SMP and not NUMA... you have an enomous memory bloat. There is nothing to do about it... but run one...

I have currently 96 to 128 workers (depends on the days) running on AMD plateforms. I have to say that the speed differences between Intel and AMD plateforms with SSE2 are about the same with Prime95...
