I had really good luck with the first 4 or 5 boards I put in my build (same mobo as George), using the cheaper memory instead of specifically Kingston and Samsung brand. The OC function always...

Understanding assignment rules

Came across a new thing today, and just looking to further understand it.

It have a machine doing lower first time LL tests. It recently checked 67842707, only to find after completion that it...

Work Assignment Question

Why is it that I usually (or at least often) see abandoned LL double checks from years ago for first time assignment I just recently completed?

Here's an example:...

It was perhaps a bit naive of me. I'm not really that into hardware. Seemed like it should work so I gave it a go. Each side (of 4 boards) draws about 300 watts at the wall and they seems to be...

Temps are good. In the upper 70s, but it's warm in my office today. There is no powered ventilation, but the entire back (that you can't see in the pics) is wide open. Also, there are large 3 inch...

Hmmmm... I wonder if Windows 10 handles it differently. I've had my Prime95 folder in Program Files since the beginning, but haven't had any issue. My worktodo.txt file stays up to date, etc.

What's the reasoning for not doing this? I've done it on a few of my machines, and haven't noticed any ill effect, but it sounds like there is a potential problem with doing so?

Windows 10. I did do shorter benchmarks, with just as much variance. I kicked off a couple 30 minute benches to see if hopefully that gave more consistent (averaged) results.

Benchmark Variances

I'm having trouble deciding between 1 worker and 4 workers in terms of overall efficiency on a particular machine. I ran 30 minute benchmarks (BenchTime=1800) twice, and get close (but different)...

I exaggerated a little. I did the math on the benchmarks and it's a 7.4% reduction. As George noted, I'll just stick with 28.7 on that craptop

Cas Latency

Recognizing that memory speed/bandwidth is king, and all other factors being even, is it fair to assume that cas latency has a fairly significant impact on results (LL testing)?

In particular, I'm...

i3 w/DDR4?

Anyone running an i3-6100, 6300 or 6350 with DDR4-2133?

All of the following assumes dedicated build running solely to crunch primes.

I'm really curious about how an i3 with DDR4-2133 would...

Yikes, ignore that advice. Ordered one to try. Yes, it's only about a 1/2" bigger, and $20 cheaper up front, but it does in fact use 9 to 10 additional watts. What it's doing with that energy is...
