You're in a math forum, talking about something for which actual numerical probabilities are not hard to compute- that is Batalov's homework assignment for you, after all. So, you read the...

60-61G is at 93k; 61-63G has left 93-95k and 97-100k.
I believe both will finish around Halloween.

I don't think we can answer that until we see the data from 15 vs 12 vs 10. I'm expecting 50-60% duplicates in 12-15, and worse in 10-12.

If you do wish to take more data, I think Q=8-10M would...

I'd like to see 10-100M and 10-105M. The CADO group reports that duplicate ratio rises meaningfully when q-max is beyond 8 * q-min. Your data is all within that ratio, but you started sieving at 10M...

"good enough" is a matter of your level of patience. The only limitation that machine has other than "time spent to get a result" is that RAM installed limits the maximum size of NFS job you can run....

Is your interest Mersennes only, primes of some other forms, or factoring too? Those are the three main categories this forum's users work on.

How is it that you think you are smart enough to come up with a formula that turns out primes very often, but aren't smart enough to actually check if the (majority of) outputs are prime?

Seeing as how there have been no reservations in four years, I think you can have at it.

I'm gonna hand-wave here, since only a few people have bothered taking data:

When a relation set is right at the cusp of building a matrix, a few more hours sieving will save more than a few hours...

In principle, yes. There's an electricity savings to be had by over-sieving less and accepting larger matrices, especially on the e-small queue where matrices are nearly all under 15M. However, one...

Judging by the records for 200-201-202, a 3.0 should be possible. Like Kruoli, I'll hope for some lucky spin!

I'd guess 875-900M relations to get a nice matrix; perhaps 50-330M and try filtering before deciding how many more Q?

Yield of almost-3.0 sounds quite nice!

More poly select doesn't interfere with anything else- perhaps 2x more poly select saves you 5% of sieve time; that's around half a digit of difficulty. I have poly select calibrated to take about 5%...

We would need quite a lot of extra sieving to get a matrix under 32GB in memory footprint; if you have 64, you're going to be fine (possibly with CADO, definitely with msieve).

This is good enough to sieve with.

Between this and the Cunningham 3,748+ C204, one should go to f-small and the other should be a team sieve. Which should be which? My vote is to team-sieve...

Well, I hope nobody tries to test-sieve with the params provided with the poly! lim's above 2^30, but 32bit large primes?
