There are a couple of things you can do to modify factmsieve to reduce the time wasted.
The most obvious is to edit the relations-wanted count to more accurately represent the number needed- such...

Some of us are granted more responsbility than we're ready for; my parents allowed me to invest the savings they had set aside for my college. If I blew it, I'd have to find my own way through...

I had a couple friends in college who learned / got approval to short stocks, solely to short the companies I picked for my own portfolio. #Iknowthefeeling

I suggest you make a short project out of n=1 to n=400k to find small primes, and then decide how large an 'n' you want to set up a sieve for.

For the small primes, srsieve or newpgen to create...

That might take me a little searching to find results from that reservation....
I'll find it, or re-run the range. Shouldn't take more than a week or two.

I'm not sure what your experience level is with NFS matrices, but an msieve matrix roughly 26M in size fits on a 16GB machine, and something in the 45-to-50M range fits on 32GB. I haven't run a...

Behind the curve to do what?
You can solve a rather large NFS matrix with 64GB; a problem that doesn't fit would also need multiple months to solve on any sub-$5000 CPU setup.

Ryan-
What settings & parameters did you use? How many relations did you collect (for the first matrix, or also the final number)?

That is an excellent and superior viewpoint. As a non-programmer, I tend to think in terms of "can this be improved for little effort?", and running CADO as a black-box that receives input and...

I think on small inputs the difference in LA time isn't enough to be worth much programming effort, since it's more complicated to use a hybrid versus cado-as-black-box-factorer. I don't bother to...

I'm game to do another hybrid CADO/15e-queue job with SNFS; we've done GNFS197 and GNFS198 somewhat profitably, and trying an iffy SNFS job seems fine.
I won't have human-time to test params nor...

Update:
We're at Q=88.2M, so CADO sieving will wrap up tonight or Monday morning.
280M relations so far, looks like total from our CADO effort will be 320M or so.

Correct poly. I used 268/400M for lim's, and 33LP 64/95 for mfb's.

Update: Q=43.1M, 114.4M relations. Yield average almost exactly 5.0, down a bit from the 20-25MQ range.

Forecast is 350M or so relations by Q=100M (80MQ * 4.x yield).
That leaves ~650M for...
