Best version for Pentium III?

I am running Prime95 23.8.1 on a Pentium III. The Whatsnew file suggests that this is still the best version for this CPU, i.e. fastest and well-tested.
Is that correct?

In Windows, you could poll the temperature sensor, stop the Prime95 service, edit the value of Throttle in prime.ini, and restart the service. Or the equivalent in mprime of this Prime95 feature. :-)

I think Luigi suggests 23.8 because other posters have said that 23.7 may stick at the same point in the torture test every time.
Search the forum for 23.8.
