I already moved 3 cores to LLRnet port 100. More to come as the cores free up from manual reserved ranges. I'll hope to stay here until the server dries out.
For the rally I think you should redirect anything that's not from Free-DC to the port 300 server. Let them polish off all the low stuff while we find all the top 5000 primes!
Perhaps the rest of us should do the 'low stuff' while the Free-DC folks do the top-5000 ranges.

Since the low ranges LLR faster, maybe we'd have a good chance of getting 50% of total tests run during the rally.

Hmm, that's an interesting idea. It would level the playing field a bit.

It was a joke but perhaps we could allow the flexibility to run both servers if people wanted. Carlos and Karsten, could you set up the stats where people could run both servers during the rally?

Wouldn't everyone just want to do the port 100 server though, since you get more points per CPU hour? (Tests take less time, but are counted fully with the larger ones from the main server, thus we have our bonus for crunching the lower ranges.)

It all depends on how you value things. Do you value a higher score for the rally or top-5000 primes? I put more value on top-5000 primes but I'd still like to score well in the rally too.

I'd probably do something like 7-8 cores on the higher range and 2-3 on the lower range if both were available. I'd have a lower score but would have an expectation of slightly over one top 5000-prime.

Free-DC folks, how would you divide your cores if tests on both servers were counted in the rally?

Karsten/Carlos, would counting both servers in the rally be too much hassle to figure out everything?

Just something I thought I'd throw out...

Not for me! i got my spreadsheet: only insert the results (after getting only essential data) and run my code to count pairs for user/team and for day/hour graphs.
the remaining things to do is to create a page for the rally to display these data like the last race!

Oh yeah, duh, why didn't I think of that?

If both servers are counted in the rally, I'm not sure how I'd split up my cores between servers. I'd really like to finally find my first top-5000 prime, but then, on the other hand, the sooner NPLB gets the lower range cleaned, the better. I guess I'll have to think about it some more.
Could you add a 333200 to the end of my results in similar fashion?

Maybe we should name the team "none".
Would the stats combine the team "none" with the - team? Would there be two listed as "none"?
I just now saw this. :missingteeth::missingteeth:

Good one!

I think there would be a team "none" and a team "dash".

Unfortunately, in that case, you'd have everyone who's not on a team have their results counted for the "-" team, and nobody counted for the "none" team--because in the main LLRnet users table, everyone without a team is listed as "-" but they're collectively listed as team "none" in the team stats! :missingteeth:

kar_bon 2008-02-20 22:49

ok ok... corrected 'none' in '-' to make it clear for all here and not laying down in the dust and laughing!
