Borg - To load up a DC client on a computer that doesn't belong to you.
This includes friend/relatives, unsuspecting neighbors, even computers at work can be borged, however, to be legit, you have permissions to do so, so you won't get fired and/or give DC a black eye. (basic version) Just like you used to do at work
To give some more background to the term: the word "Borg" originally came from Star Trek (specifically, the Next Generation-era shows). The Borg Collective was a very large civilization that inhabited a good portion of a far quadrant of our galaxy, and expanded by "assimilating" individuals or technologies--that is, connecting them to a "hive mind" that collectively made decisions. It is quite a fitting analogy to the process of "assimilating" various computers into the "collective" that makes up a particular user's farm. |

Great background there. Leave it to Anon for the history lesson. Thanks for sharing. I was an original Star Trek fan but not so much the Next Generation...shows my age I guess. lol Gary |

Thanks for sharing. I was an original Star Trek fan but not so much the Next Generation...shows my age I guess. lol Gary
Actually, I haven't seen any Next Generation shows (yet) but have read up a lot on it here. :smlie: |
458K-463K completed by LLRnet IB400, results emailed to Gary.
|
I've now compiled and reviewed the results for n=473K-478K. No missing results were found! That's very good BUT...there is a prime that was not reported; a total of 3 in the range!! Bruce, you've got a PM.
It wasn't an n=5K primeless gap after all. I still have to get the file in .csv format for uploading to Adam's server. That will be taken care of on Weds. Gary |
I've now sent .csv files of results for ports 400 (IB400), 5000 (IB5000), and 8500 (BP) to Adam for uploading into his server for all results returned between June 30th @ 14:00 GMT and July 8th @ 14:00 GMT.
I also sent results for Carlos' port 400 (C400) for results returned since June 23rd; the last time that Anon sent them for that port. The totals on port 300 should reflect those results in the near future. Gary |
I've transferred the range of n=506.3K-510K that was left over from the rally from Carlos' port 400 to Adam's port 300.
There are a few straggling k/n pairs for n<506.3K left. Gary |
485.2-.3, .7-.8 complete no primes.

I have completed a review of the results files for n=440K-480K for drive 1. I compared primes found to post 1 in this thread, Karsten's drive 3 page, Karsten's k=300-2000 page, and the top-5000 site. No problems were found and this drive is now considered complete to n=480K.
Karsten, the only issue that I found was that prime 649*2^476415-1 has not been listed on the drive 1 page nor the k=300-2000 page. This was a prime that we missed for 10 days and was reported about 3 days ago. I used your rieselprime.de site for the review. On the k=300-2000 page, please show all k=400-1001 as having been searched to n=480K with the exception of k's that were previously searched higher than that. Many k's are still showing only n=400K so those need to be updated. Also, there are several invalid (...) notations as well as some that are missing that should be there, even if the range was only at n=400K. Please check those also. The exception to the n=480K limit would be on Curtis's reservations. For his reservations, I would suggest using his status report in the "k's not searched" thread in this forum. I think most of them are at n=400K or n=410K. I went to the Primesearch site and the ranges are still unaccessible and the link to Michael Hartley's Email is invalid. I'll dig back into my Email shortly and sent him a note about the problems. We need to complete many ranges and report many primes as well as reserve many new ranges. I'm now working on the results for n=480K-485K so that we can complete the n=478K-485K range that was done by port 300. Gary |
Results have now been verified as fully processed for n=478K-485K so that range is now considered complete.

Reserving n=525K-528K for port 300. k/n pairs sent to Adam.
