Physics is no clearer now than it was 100 years ago:sad:
Euler and Gauss plunderd the low-lying fruit in physics
as well as number theory. (See Fivemack's "Why do we bother"
thread).

Do you have any clue to how ridiculous your statement is?

davieddy 2008-01-12 18:35

Alright - keep your hair on.
I was merely lamenting how far I am from understanding
what underlies the cited article. Perhaps you are closer?

Not particularly. I know that there is far more that I don't understand than what I do understand so I find it ridiculous to think there is little left to learn.

davieddy 2008-01-13 00:14

It's ridiulous to think that is what I implied.

David John Hill Jr 2008-01-13 00:28

Where to start?

Don't want to give anyone a past||present|| future headache,
but you might begin an abstract analysis of time with the statement:
'time stands still', and go from there.

Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana. :missingteeth:
Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana. :missingteeth:
Or, for our French readers,

Chronométrez-vous les mouches comme une flèche.

I thought it was low-hanging fruit ... never considered that fruit might "lie low", like a hunted animal. Shows you how much I know.
Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana. :missingteeth:
Time flies arrow-dynamically, fruit has banan-appeal?

Or in Teutsch:

Die Fliege zeigt, das Zeit fliegt.

Deep question: In the presence of a temporal banana peel, might time actually slip instead of flying?

Wacky 2008-01-16 00:00

I thought that it was a directive.

"Time flies" as (in the same manner that you would) an arrow.
So get out your high speed cameras, etc. and let's see just how fast they travel.

All times are UTC. The time now is 12:54.
