The server machine went down about two hours ago. It may be a hard drive failure because it goes into a boot sequence but cannot complete it. I'll keep working on it tonight and tomorrow. It is backed up regularly so there should be little loss of data.

Everything is back up. There was no loss of data.

I'm on a business trip. I should be back about April 29th.

Brief server downtime around 2016-04-18, 20:00 CDT (server time) - RESOLVED

The noprimeleftbehind.net server apparently rebooted itself around 20:00 server time today. Nothing seems to be "broken" - it had just rebooted (possibly a power blip), which shut down all the PRPnet servers. I logged in around 21:00 and restarted the servers - everything is back up and running now.

Total downtime is just about an hour. Nothing to see here, move along people.

Mayor big breaking news.

Mayor big breaking news

On May 16th 2016 at 10:46:46 GMT, the final k/n prime was proven and completing the final test for Riesel Base 3, for k<=63,064,644,937 for n<=25000.

This means, that the largest conjecture to be tested fully to n=25000 is for the next while going to be Riesel Base 3. What is remarkable about this accomplishment is that more than 75% of all work on Riesel Base 3 that has been completed for n<=25000 has been completed since early august 2015. So in the same time it takes a fertile woman to complete pregnancy and bring a child to this world, more than 22,000,000,000 k's has been removed from Riesel Base 3, either as a result of being MultipleOfBase (MOB) or prime.

Many thanks goes out to Mark for creating srbsieve. There is no doubt that Riesel Base 3, would not have hit this milestone before 2020 or later, had it not been for srbsieve. So thank you Mark for your tireless effort for the various math projects

Now let's go clean up the hundreds of thousands of k's waiting to have a prime found for n>25000. Anyone with many ressources care to step in and help out?

Take care.

Kenneth
Congratulations Kenneth! :smile::flex:
Thanks

This has no doubt been some very productive months. Files with results will be e-mailed as soon as GoogleDrive accepts my uploads (hopefully tomorrow).

I will be out of town on vacation from June 16th thru 26th. During that time I will have very limited access to the internet. Good luck everyone while I am gone!

The CRUS/NPLB server machine went down very early this morning. It is most likely the power supply. I will get it repaired this afternoon.

gd_barnes 2016-12-01 10:55

I was able to pilfer a power supply from a defunct machine. I put it in our server machine and everything is good again. :-)

Power supplies really are the part of a pc with the lowest life expectancy these days. The strange thing is that I have seen 20 year old pcs with their first power supply. Maybe they were more reliable back when dos was the operating system of choice.
