Done, and the prime is verified. Next step?
Thanks!

Email Chris Caldwell at:
caldwell at utm.edu

Ask him to transfer 158*992^160514-1 from proof code L4961 to L4992.

It may take him a few days to get it done.

That should do it.

Yuck... I thought there is some click-here-click-there stuff I could do... :yucky:

Yeah I'm surprised that there isn't. It is a little bit of a pain to transfer primes.

LaurV,

Have you contacted Prof. Caldwell to transfer the prime? I see that it has not been transferred yet.

You may have to create the proof code again because their system will delete them if they haven't had a reported prime for a few days.

Thanks.

Yes, I wrote to Mr. Caldwell just before my last post in this thread (in spite of how that post sounds ). I also gave a link to relevant posts in this thread, in the email.

The real problem (I suppose) is that he is not checking the box every day, he is quite a busy man, and the new created proof codes are automatically deleted in 24 hours or so, if no prime is reported with that code. As much as that is said when you create the new proof code. Right now, the second code does not exist anymore, and I appear there with L4961 only, to which I have 3 primes. The other, L4992, can't be found anywhere, so I assume they are not reallocated, but just wiped out. I didn't get any reply from Mr. Caldwell, so either (1) he didn't read the email, or (2) he read it after L4992 was deleted and had no history of it to re-create it, or (3) he just don't waste the time to reply to any crank that writes to him . Honestly, the third alternative would not surprise me at all, and I would not make him a fault if he does so. But beside of the fact that I don't like bothering other people with emails, my time is also too limited to go around making proof codes every day, and I couldn't care less to which proof code the prime is ascribed.

Edit: there is still a chance: you pray to your gods and light a candle or incense stick, whatever, that I find a new top5k prime.
In that case, I will create the new code properly (eventually consulting you first) and report the prime, so the code stays, THEN deal with contacting Mr. Caldwell again and trying to transfer the old prime to the new code. So, please pray hard!

He has usually responded to me fairly quickly but one time he was on vacation and I had to recreate a proof code. I think he attempts to respond to most people if it's directly related to reported primes on his site.

Oh well. Don't worry about it anymore. It's pretty convoluted to have to contact someone by Email to transfer something in this day and age.

If you happen to find another top 5000 prime here and remember this in the future you might try contacting him again.

I see, you don't want to pray to your gods for me to find a prime....
