politically incorrect research sites?
If I wanted to find out about politically incorrect research, and any form of political incorrectness is fair game, where would be a good place to start?
Just as an example, if a grad student believed doing the M-word at least once every 24 hours significantly reduced the occurrence of testicular cancer,("You gotta flush those babies, otherwise you're asking for trouble," theorizes the imaginary grad student) where would one start to find that kind of stuff? I'm not specifically talking about sex stuff, that was just an example. nm, I googled "politically incorrect research" but I'd still appreciate any input people want to give. |

There's fairly good evidence, OTOH, that prostate cancer is alleviated by the practice. A Google search on "masturbation prostate cancer" turns up many hits. Politically incorrect "tongue-in-cheek" research
Why is a man's "head" thicker than the shaft? (and I don't mean the head that he puts his hat on.)
The French spent $1,000,000 Francs (this was before Euros) on a 1 year study involving 2,000 couples and concluded it is designed that way to increase pleasure for the woman. The Spanish spent $2,000,000 Dollars on a 2 year study involving 5,000 couples and concluded it is designed that way to increase pleasure for the man. The Canadians spent $6.95 on a copy of Playboy and the next day published the conclusion that it is designed that way to keep his hand from slipping off and hitting himself in the forehead. |
/me looks at himself and wonders how unusual it is for the head NOT to be bigger than than the shaft.
I'm not going to post pics under any circumstances, but exactly how unusual am I? |
If I wanted to find out about politically incorrect research, and any form of political incorrectness is fair game, where would be a good place to start?
To answer the real question: as always, Google (or another search engine) is a very good place to start.
My earlier reply was but an example of a special case search. Paul |

In Germany, we say that light strokes on the back of the head boost the intellectual power (leichte Schläge auf den Hinterkopf fördern das Denkvermögen), but it might work with the forehead as well. Ah, and yes, you can place bets on how long it takes until this thread be closed. H. (PS: Grammar question: is it "be closed"? and why, if yes?) H. |
Getting in before the padlock appears... . Correct grammar for standard English at least is "until this thread is closed".

I think it would depend on how risque(sp?) we get. For instance, posting links to science stories about psychiatric medications effects on the ability to achieve climax might be okay, but comments about parts of Britney Spears having the appearance of wearing a hat might not be taken so well. |

How about "until this thread will be closed"? The action is future, not present. |
One thing I'd like to mention, in terms of potential thread closings, is that navigating these threads is very much a deterministic, list based process. If you have HBO and are a channel surfer, then you're more likely to unintentionally see nudity than if you have a "Favorite" button that only cycles through certain channels that don't happen to have nudity. If someone hacked into the system and made it so clicking on the Soap Box forum caused pornographic images to be displayed on the screen, there'd be a good number of people who would need to read about it in a thread in order to be aware of it, even if the "bug" lasted for months.

We don't close threads around here willy-nilly. You gotta come up with something better than this and even then we'll just move it to the soapbox. So, carry on.
@Wacky: 'is' is correct since the tense is future conditional not simple future. |
How about "until this thread will be closed"? The action is future, not present.
But it's still a rather "wacky" thread... In the immortal words of Beavis and Butt-Head, "I detect math-turbatory overtones, or something." |
