PSP greeting to a new user (PSP@BOINC)

Hi,

i wanted to anounce that there is a new user doing some  sieve work for PSP using the combined dat file.

His name is

www.primegrid.com

This means we entered the world of
BOINC

THey already found their first factors and entered the stats

Thanks to Rytis for making this possible.:bow wave:

So if you like to help sieving but do not want to make all this manual handling
This is a solution for you. (At the moment windows OS only but work on linux in progress)

In the later future we also plan to handle llr tests also via BOINC.

To answer the question before it is asked
The normal reservation and also llrnet will stay in place.

Nice, congratz :)
Which range will they sieve? And, which application is used? sr2sieve?

ltd 2007-10-14 14:19

Several ranges above 1500T. Which are first pass for PSP and SOB and where no manual reservation has taken place so far.

The sieve client is indead sr2sieve.

The user PrimeGrid has reserved a whole load of ranges reserved on the reservation system (for combined SB and PSP sieving) see it here. http://www.sierpinskisieve.com/userinfo.php?user=203

Why did we not do the ranges below 1500T. From what I understand a lot of ranges are left below 1500T? I think we will find more factors per T in the lower ranges.

I wondered about about that, too, but call me loyal or what, I found some reasons.

With new stuff, there are always issues. Better to have these in some higher range than in a hot one.

Did I say reasons? Well, I found ONE. H.

Well I would imagine one reason for the 1500T for the prime grid is that there has to be a split some where in order to allow the manual system to move forward too, in addition to the prime grid reservation method. This way it keeps the boinc end of things on an equal basis for both psp and sob. The lower stuff still has some clean-up going on to bring things up to the sob point.

You might want to edit the welcome thread to having an automatic sieve

Will do soon. Thanks for reminding. (Waiting for LLR to go BOINC, so I can do both at the same time)
