Do you think it would be better to have the blank rows appear between the lowest and highest? Please let me know your opinion on this -- it would be trivial to implement. Also, I'm still trying to get back to this to make available the raw data, plus a line chart at the deepest zoom level, plus being able to rotate the 3D chart. |
Do you think it would be better to have the blank rows appear between the lowest and highest?
Yes. Any empty intermediate values should show as empty, not disappear, to minimize confusion.
One little snag: some of the "tall towers" block the view of the stuff behind.
This one went unnoticed. |

No, it didn't. That's what the rotating (in 90 degree steps) will solve. And I copy James Heinrich's comment as well. Thanks for the feedback everyone. I will let you all know when this has been implemented. (I'm hoping this week, but so far, it's been a hell of a week (and a month)...) |
Thanks Chris. You are doing a great job. I really like your GIMPS visualization.

Yes, Chris, this is really cool.
One thought: Can you indicate the effective date of the chart. |
One thought: Can you indicate the effective date of the chart.
It is effectively live.
Yes, I still think that the uncompressed version that I brought up and James seconded would be good. |
But I think that is just an aesthetic choice. I like not having a huge graph if all exponents are to say 64 and one exponent is to 71. Then all those gaps are just tiresome.
|
Rather than fighting about what looks best, it should be pretty trivial to have a checkbox for "hide zero-value bit depths" and render it according to the user's preference.

It is at least several days old. I was working on TF 80M to 64 bits. It still shows 98 in the 80.3M range. There were 98 about a week ago and the last one finished yesterday. |
