linux noob at work ...
hello,
my mother asked me to switch her computer to linux ... in the past it was a windows duron 750 with llrnet running . now that it's a sempron 3000 with linux (kubuntu) running, i want it to work ! but llrnet is not available for linux so i will switch it to sr5sieve as i'm a noob in "linux-use", i don't know how to run this sr5sieve file. here is what i've done:
- unpacking the 1.5.17 file - unpacking the sr5data.txt file - renaming sr5sieve-amd to sr5sieve - create a sr5work.txt file with a rangte in it
after that, i (windowslike) click on sr5sieve ... nothing happen i try the terminal way:
jack@mamy-Jack:~/Desktop/sr5sieve-1.5.17-linux-x86$ sr5sieve bash: sr5sieve: command not found jack@mamy-Jack:~/Desktop/sr5sieve-1.5.17-linux-x86$
same if i use sudo sr5sieve can someone explain me in linux-illiterate words how to run this app ... and even if you have plenty of free time to give, explain me how to let it start at boot ... thanks in advance |
Try typing ./sr5sieve at the prompt. Linux only looks in a few directories when trying to find executables. You need to change your path (you can probably find out how to do that online) for Linux to find the executable in the directory that contains it.
hope this helps.. masser |
it works !
thanks masser ! now i will look how to start it automagically at boot ... |
