If you decide to switch to k=9, and if are using the sieve file provided by Psieve, please note that they keep even exponents in the sieve file. However, 9*2^2k-1 is a difference of two squares and cannot be prime. Therefore, before starting tests, please remove all even exponents from the input file. You can do that easily using the grep command.

Yes, that sounds great. I am happy to give k=19 a rest now & have a go at k=9. Thanks for the reminder about the even numbers too!
