Adding a little blurb under your user name

Forgive a possibly dumb question, but I can't see where you go to add a little blurb under your user name. It's okay for now, I won't be witty enough to create one for a while yet.

Ask, and ye shall receive...

(We don't really know how it happens, it just does.)

potonono 2007-05-15 02:27

You could always edit your avatar to add one... but someone (thing?) might just edit it back and add something smart (odd?) for you.

jasonp 2007-05-15 12:01

Ah, so the trolls do it; good to know there's still a little magic in the world

fetofs 2007-05-15 13:22

I always thought it was the gerbils... Aren't they the playful ones?

ewmayer 2007-05-17 23:23

p.s.: I'm just the messenger -- rumor has it that Xyzzy has more pull with the Almighty Gerbil who manages the Blurb-o-Rama. ;)

fetofs 2007-05-18 01:42

If the gerbils/trolls were to give me a blurb, what would it be?

ewmayer 2007-05-18 01:45
If the gerbils/trolls were to give me a blurb, what would it be?
Give them a suggestion, and they'll do their best ... just realize that their typing skills are limited by their little gerbil paws and clumsy troll hands. Occcasional typos will result.

Xyzzy 2007-05-18 02:58

For the record, "blurbs" are handled (poorly) by the gerbils. The trolls manage the server and run the search engine. Anything requiring template edits belong in the gerbil's domain.

Gerbil2: Yeah!

I see I "earned" my very own blurb ... not sure though if I should be pleased...ah well I have a sense of humor and I guess I deserved this one.

He didn't say what ye shall recieve, though. Look at mine, for example.

I asked what was probably the trolls for a specific name once, and never heard anything back, though reading this I think I need to try asking the gerbils.

I didn't email anybody but rather sent a PM. I didn't even know the forum assistants had email addresses. How would one go about acquiring such a thing?

Xyzzy 2012-06-25 20:56
How would one go about acquiring such a thing?
A forum assistant? They just kind of show up. We never go looking for one specifically.

Not really.
Nuff junk already

Xyzzy 2012-06-26 22:14

FWIW, forum assistant email addresses are:

name@mersenneforum.org

Dubslow 2012-06-26 22:47

I just realized, whom should one email if the Gerbils, well... have moved on to greater things?

Xyzzy 2012-06-26 23:01

We cannot guarantee that emails are understood, but they are all read.

I have no experience of gerbils, but give a guinea pig a newspaper article to read and it will take it all in without hesitation.

cheesehead 2012-06-28 21:36
A forum assistant? They just kind of show up.
... and they assist with the forum.

That's not to say that you hired them or sought them out.
