Many such emails seem to me to be by non-native English speakers. Non-standard word ordering, singular/plural confusion, grammar, and other language issues are common. Also, in broader terms, these messages must be aimed at the terminally gullible. I mean, really, someone I've never heard of calling me "friend" is not a good start in any interchange. |
Oh, joy, more scam E-mails! Some people have all the luck...

A New Personal Record!
This is by far the most I've ever been offered, even accounting for inflation. Usually it's in the tens of millions, but maybe they think larger numbers are more convincing. Personally, I'd be more convinced if it was a large prime number, but that's just me.
Norm [I]Hello Dear, Here is Malebo Sibiya Personal Adviser / Auditor for the Vice President from South Africa (currently in power), can I trust you? Is a top secret.
Hmm, apparently the software automatically wraps a "mailto" command around E-mail addresses. As you can see, I have found a way to deactivate it without changing the address, or having the software "correct" me (namely, when the software "helpfully" inserted the mailto command, I just put a forward slash in the right place to kill it). Would one of the Moderators please do likewise with the previous post? I find "If you are interested in this transaction, contact me or delete this message" rather amusing. I think the "185,000,000 Million" is a grammatical oopsadaisy, and 185 million was the intended amount, but as written it does indicate a fabulous sum. In US dollars, it's well over 600 times South Africa's 2016 GDP, and well over 400 times its 2011 GDP, which was the largest I saw in a chart of recent years. BTW, there is a real Malebo Sibiya in the SA government. (I looked up a directory on line): Private Secretary to the Deputy President Ms Malebo Sibiya She does have an E-mail address, but -- whoda thunkit -- it's not with yahoo. |
