Got an ironic scam email today... (not very new, Paul and E.W. already reported similar ones)
I wonder if the 410 victim count is a sly reference to Nigeria's 419 code number for advance fee fraud. I also wonder what entry 410 might read there.

At first I considered that he might be directly addressing the fraud victims by legal code number but then he does math on the number. Maybe this is a second generation letter embellished but still dragging chaff from its origin.

I like that Ms. R. gives a choice of e-mail addresses to which one might enthusiastically reply were one a lonely Jewish single, but I was kinda hoping for 'thoughts of naughtiness' which the lady thinks toward me. Is there a psalm for that? (Not from a Monty Python sketch, that is.)

She might well not be female (you're obviously realistic enough for that not to be a crushingly disappointing surprise), in which case this might suffice:
REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE-STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL
I am Dr. Bakare Tunde, the cousin of Nigerian Astronaut, Air Force Major Abacha Tunde. He was the first African in space when he made a secret flight to the Salyut 6 space station in 1979. He was on a later Soviet spaceflight, Soyuz T-16Z to the secret Soviet military space station Salyut 8T in 1989. He was stranded there in 1990 when the Soviet Union was dissolved. His other Soviet crew members returned to earth on the Soyuz T-16Z, but his place was taken up by return cargo. There have been occasional Progrez supply flights to keep him going since that time. He is in good humor, but wants to come home.

In the 14-years since he has been on the station, he has accumulated flight pay and interest amounting to almost $ 15,000,000 American Dollars. This is held in a trust at the Lagos National Savings and Trust Association. If we can obtain access to this money, we can place a down payment with the Russian Space Authorities for a Soyuz return flight to bring him back to Earth. I am told this will cost $ 3,000,000 American Dollars. In order to access the his trust fund we need your assistance.

Consequently, my colleagues and I are willing to transfer the total amount to your account or subsequent disbursement, since we as civil servants are prohibited by the Code of Conduct Bureau (Civil Service Laws) from opening and/ or operating foreign accounts in our names.
I have received an urgent alert from the World Bank. Actually, this is the second one. I think I may already have posted the first one, so I will just offer a clip of the first few lines.

That one is brilliant- thanks for posting. If I had received that email, I probably would have responded, just to see what was next, and how they explained things. There's some pretty creative people on the other end of that email.

Got a call from someone claiming to be a tax agent with an arrest warrant for me. They stated that it was for tax evasion. Since this was not the typical "your computer is sending error messages" scam, I figured that a novel approach was warranted. Some scammer Jiu-Jitsu as it were.

The following is an enhanced transcript.
Me: "Hola, como esta?"
Them: "I am calling for 'Home Owner'."
Me: "Who is this?"
Them: "This is agent 'I.M. Stupid', from the 'Official Agency Office of the Tax Collection Agency'".
Me: "I have been waiting for your call."
Them: "Huh?"
Me: "I was waiting for a call from you folks."
Them: "Why?"
Me: "You called me, what do you want?"
Them: "We have an arrest warrant for you for tax evasion."
Me: "I thought that I cleared that up yesterday when I visited the office."
Short dumbfounded pause on the other end, likely searching the script for the right answer.
Them: "We have a warrant for your arrest...."
Me: "I was just in the office and cleared this up yesterday. Didn't you get the info?"
Them: "Uh" mumble mumble
Me: " I talked to agents Smith and Jones yesterday about this and showed them all my documents and they agreed that the TaxMan's office was wrong."
Them: "You better not be lying, we are going to send the police right over there."
Me: "Check your records. We resolved this yesterday."
I might have thrown in a "You better not be lying."

I waited until they completely dropped the line.
