can you run prime95 off of a network drive?
i have several roomates
they all want to run prime but they not exactly experts so occashonaly there comptuers crash and stuff so rather than digging into busted systems and saving backup files and stuff could i just make 3-4 seperate prime95 directorys in my comptuer and have them map them as a network drive would prime still start up atuomaticly at boot up? is there anyway to do it with just one directory |
Yes, you can run it of a mapped drive, just make sure that "connection" is active when you need it. Mapped drives are very quickly "forgotten" by the systems. Maybe try using a decreased time between disk-writes to keep the connections active.
You could possibly do it with one directory, but it would complicate the startup parameters you would have to use. Check the readme or undoc textfiles for the right parameters to us. Why not use 4 sub-directories, one for each client. Very easy to set up and the client doesn't mind. heretic |
i was just hinking it would be easyier form my side if i could some how dump like 10 factors into a worktodo.ini and they take them as they need them or something like that

It is not a problem creating and maintaining a stash of exponents on one machine, just increase the always have at least x number of days work thingy. The difficult part is reassingning it to the other machines when and as they need more work to do.
I would guess your best option is to run the shared disk senario. That way you could always complete to work yourself. Then again you are aslo putting all your eggs in one basket ;) heretic |
