Star gazers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa will have a front-and-center view of the eclipse in a late-night sky, with the zenith occurring at 23:21 GMT.
On the east coast of North America, the Moon will already be eclipsed when it rises at around sunset, while in Asia early risers will get a glimpse of the lunar blackout as the Moon sets.

As a reminder,

this is the best lunar eclips until 2029.
Before that one, the intermediate ones will be too low in the sky for Europe.

So enjoy :)

And for Austria it seems that the sky will be too cloudy on saturday.

Why not wait until the 19/3-2007 where the moon will be dark all night

Well, I will be in a summerhouse all weekend far away form any magor lightsourcs, but 22:40 UT might be at bit late - this of course is highly depending on the quantity af redwhine left in the bottle

The sun has just set here (England) so I guess if sun earth moon
are colinear ATM, the moon should be rising. I'll go see.

Sod's Law operating: clear sky in the west, solid cloud in the east:((

No. It will be dark all day. It will be set all night.

I've got a good view here (S.E. England) and the forecast is good. I have my digital camera ready to take stills about 20 secs apart and I have software to turn them into an avi.
It's just a shame I have no way of tracking the moon.

Can you fix the orientation of the camera?

Flatlander 2007-03-03 19:27

I can fix the position with the tripod.
The zoom is playing up so the field of view will be quite large. I will start with the moon on the left and hope the moon performs for me before it gets out of shot on the right. It's all a bit 'Heath-Robinson'.
I will set it 2048x1536 (it's highest res.) and worry about resizing afterwards.
It's just a 3 magapixel Canon A70 connected to the PC with a long USB cable.
I don't think I'll see much detail of the moon but it should catch the colour changes.

Sky now clear here (Milton Keynes) and full moon shining through my window. Roll on 8:20 GMT

All times are UTC. The time now is 12:33.
