Help with PSP Sieve
 

I am new @ PSP Sieving... I just registered a team & username, downloaded the sr5sieve-1.4.18-mingw32-i586 & sr5.rar, unzipped everything, created the sr5work.txt file according to [URL="http://www.team-ninja.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=39937&highlight=prime"]THIS THREAD[/URL] ran the client... it is taking over ALL of the CPU cycles. My question is... how do I make it share with the other projects?
Intel P4 - 2.8G 1.3G DDR XP-PRO SP-2.
In as simple terms as possible.

PS: As for you question: It's all about getting 100% of the cycles; If you want to support different projects, you can run one week one and the next week the other; It would be (pretty much) the same as running two weeks two projects at 50% each.

What hhh said is partially true however since your CPU is a HT machine... correct?? Has one physical processor and one virtual processor you could run two projects at the same time. Although some projects do not play well with each other, one will consume 70-90% of the computing power.

Also, the sieve program you downloaded would work just fine. However P4's are not that great at psp-sieve, or perhaps I should say that the ROCK at psp-LLR(PRP). I would suggest you think about testing for primes as opposed to sieving for factors over at psp.

There is an FAQ over at PSP or you could always post a comment there.

Okay... here is what I've downloaded THIS time... proth_sieve_042_win_sse2, riesel. Do I now have the correct items to run PSP Sieve?

Your best bet is to download the package

it's the third file in the list (setup) Included is a read me.

Then the first file in the list the dat.


ALso your reservation is not appropriate, you should reserve in the range of 455000 (where is says reserve here).

10G is also pretty small you will finish within a few hours. I'd suggest reserving something a few 100G in size.

How far along are you with that 200000-204000 range? Did you want to release a portion so that others could help finish that dense range in short order.

Also I would strongly suggest LLR with your system...

No do not want to release it. I do not have access to the PC working on this range on a regular basis. But when I have access I will update the range. I estimate the range should be done to 2002 T.
