My younger brother died this morning. He was on vacation in Majorca when we learned he'd had a brain haemorrhage on Sunday. I'm on the island now, rather busy and with rather primitive IT facilities so please don't become impatient if I can't respond or otherwise do stuff without some delay for a few days.
My younger brother died this morning.
I can only imagine what it is like. My uncle also died suddenly, years ago. The news quite literally brought my father to his knees. My deepest sympathy. You are entitled to as long as you need to get back to 'normal life.'

Indeed. Even when expected, the death of a loved one hits harder and deeper than most realize, until they've experienced it.

Death is unavoidable. For those left behind, it's a bit like a library burning down.

Our commiserations to you and your family, Paul.

Sorry for your loss

I don't like giving and hate even more receiving condolences. I have always thought it is depressive.
However, I will offer the only thing that comforts me personally over the loss of my loved ones.
In my Faith, there is a phrase which I translate as:
"The worlds of existence are limitless".

We are all here for less than a moment before we continue our journey. It has always been that way and it always will be.

My eyeglass prescription is less than a year old and already needs to be changed, more than just a little.

I logged into my work email to find that one of our security guards died on the Fourth after being struck in the face by a firework. David was a really cool guy, and he understood the diverse needs of the Center on Halsted and its patrons.

It is a great shock for everyone.

OMG!!!

My heart goes out to everyone who knew him, but mostly I'm thinking about his children, who reportedly witnessed this. That is a memory which will stay with them for the rest of their lives!
