P.S.: I am also looking forward to a prostate biopsy in mid December. :ouch2: :max:
I would not look forward to that. Rather, thinking about it, they might have to bring out the butterfly net. (This statement is hypothetical. The reader should not assume [based upon my statement], nor did I imply that I do or do not have a prostrate.):pinhodecarlos:
Went to the dentist 2 hours ago. Local anaesthetic is now wearing off.
The anaesthetic wore off hours ago and my mouth is extremely sore where the incisor was removed. It's 04:30 and I can't sleep. Time to see if ibuprofen and a hot drink will help.

Thoroughly miserable, in other words.

With that kind of trauma, why aren't you taking hydrocodone, or some equivalent?
With that kind of trauma, why aren't you taking hydrocodone, or some equivalent?
I'd already taken two separate 60mg doses of codeine a few hours apart. Switching from opiates to NSAIDs seemed like a good idea at the time. Indeed, it did help somewhat.

I am glad it did some good. I hope that you are continuing to improve.

chalsall: I have never had the opportunity to try something like that. I don't think I could have done it for my wisdom teeth. They were deeply impacted, and came in pointing all different directions. I had all four out under general anesthesia. Afterward, my jaw felt dislocated, my mouth was split at the corners, and my face swelled like when I had the mumps.

uncwilly: I am having to maintain a very distant mind set on the biopsy. I don't really expect that the procedure will be that bad. I expect to be at least somewhat sedated. I actually found a colonoscopy to be fascinating when I partly woke up and got to see the inside of my gut on screen. However, that did not involve about a dozen punctures through the colon. I am led to expect blood in the precious bodily fluids for some time following.

I'll be going in pre-loaded with Cipro against possible infection. The real hard part will be no alcohol for 3 days before and after, and no NSAIDS for a week before.
nor did I imply that I do or do not have a prostrate.)
You appear to be implying that you may have had it surgically removed or that you have an exceedingly rare birth defect. Either case is relatively unusual, though rather more common in elderly men than the rest of the population.
I am glad it did some good. I hope that you are continuing to improve.
Getting there. Now 24 hours post-op and in much less discomfort.
I actually found a colonoscopy to be fascinating when I partly woke up and got to see the inside of my gut on screen.
My colonoscopy a few years back didn't involve sedation (for the squeamish
the enema and lube was, err, interesting
) and was also fascinating.
The real hard part will be no alcohol for 3 days before and after, and no NSAIDS for a week before.
You have my sympathy. Currently sipping ethanol as a pain killer (that's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it. Rather second-rate port, to be precise, even though the weather isn't stormy here.

I look forward in the same sense as one does while driving. The is something ahead of me on the road. I hope it is not any sort of crash.

Cleaning out the day before was the onerous part. A bonus for coming to was that I got to see a parrot-beak-like device munching on a polyp. There was no discomfort in any of it.
