I was gone for 18 days on a much enjoyed vacation to the western half of the US. Unfortunately a storm shut down my computers (no UPS) two days after I left, so they weren't doing prime hunting during that time.

WTF france. Get out and see the real world
For some reason this story made me unhappy. Police thugs forcing someone to remove clothing. Yep, good job, one more reason for terrorists to hate you. If someone wants to wear more clothes, for any reason, then so what. I'll bet they don't even say boo to people wearing crosses on chains around their necks, which also "overtly manifests adherence to a religion".
wtf France
Agree 100%. I remember years ago a French company coming to our company for business. They had a nice product designed, for Indian market, and they wanted us to produce it. Big meeting, everybody present. We started to talk about the product, finding its good parts, but also small issues here and there. This is normal for any product/project, a good designer may not have "production" experience, or whatever. Generally, the design job is always a compromise between what we, engineers, would like to design (yeah, processors with floats on 1024 bits! hehe) and what the other people are able to produce, or our marketing is able to sell, etc. It does not make much sense to make products which you can not sell, does it? My big boss at that time was in the meeting too (new customer, big money, etc), and when he heard that the product was for the Indian market, he said that he does not want it. He didn't like to work with Indian companies. In about that period, he/we had a particular experience with another Indian company who negotiated a price very tough, like from $50 to $39, for example (more than 20% down, letting us almost no margin), and after weeks of bargaining, when they were to sign the contract, they asked "can you give it to us for 35?". So, he was feed up and didn't want to work with, or for Indians anymore. He just said "No business with Indians!". "Why?" asked a French guy in the audience. "Well, because they always try to outsmart you, they never come to their commitments, they always will contradict you, no matter what, and they think they are always right", etc, etc. (he continued for a while, generalizing like that). But when he said "they always think they are right", a funny French guy in the meeting room said "Well, French people are the same!", and everybody laughed. Now, that was a kinda good joke, because I think everybody is like that, more or less, not depending on his nationality. Me including, I always think I am right , and I am not Indian, neither French. But my boss, who is German, took it very seriously, in spite of all those French guys who actually came there for business: "Yes", he replied, "French are the Indians of Europe"... Nobody was laughing anymore. They all left, later. We did that project, at the end. They came back after a while, after their pride healed. Our offer was too good, compared with others. But since that meeting, every time I read something like this posted wherever on the web, I can't stop thinking, "yeah, French. The Indians of Europe"... |

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/aug/24/french-police-make-woman-remove-burkini-on-nice-beach
I am pretty certain I have heard of crosses being banned in workplaces where burkas were allowed in the UK. The impression Christians tend to get in the UK is that people are much more willing to challenge Christians about something than Muslims. Take the Christians who refused to make a gay wedding cake for example. If that had been Muslims I think that wouldn't have been a court case. TBH people wear crosses who aren't that religious if at all as well. |

Unemployed and looking for a new job here in the UK but more sad about my car being vandalised. Someone wrote/scratch ''tuat'' on the hood of my car and attempted to break the window glass, as pictures attached.
Police officers will meet me this Sunday to discuss this issue. |
Someone wrote/scratch ''tuat'' on the hood of my car and attempted to break the window glass, as pictures attached.
I suspect it is meant to be the much worse word "twat".
You must have parked in someone's spot or something. |
