Chikungunya

My girlfriend and I have caught Chikungunya.

I currently have a temprature of 39.4 C[SUP]o[/SUP], and joint pain so bad I can barely type or walk.

That seems unpleasantly close to symptoms for Dengue Fever, though the pathogens don't seem to be related. They do favor the same mosquito carrier, however.

You have my deepest sympathy, which includes the fervent hope that I never have the honor of hosting either beasty.

Very nasty. I second Kieren's sentiments and hope that you both very quickly lose that fever and that the joint pain will disrupt your lives as little as possible before you finally get rid of that too. Hope you're both soon well again.

Thank you both for your thoughts. And yes, it is very much like Dengue Fever in its symptoms (I've had that as well), and its nominal infection vector.

I hope the joint pain is short. If not a joint might help the pain.

I am frankly more worried about contracting Chikungunya than E-bowl-a, despite the MSM hype and the non-scientific actions of some politicos.

Oh sh!t. Get well soon!
(Never heard about it before, now I google it and find that actually is quite common in Thailand too! One of my girls had Dengue fever some years ago, and also mononucleosis  but everything ended well. However, I had no former knowledge about the existence of this chichigungu or how is it called...).

Where I live, Chicken Gumbo is a kind of soup.

All (terrible) jokes aside, I hope you get well soon.

Good and bad...

The good: I have "inherited" a new mini-desktop PC from a friend who never turned it on.

The bad: I took it to the store and they weren't sure what type of power cord it needed as it was custom built. The plugin looks like one for a laptop and was sufficient to turn on the PC but not sure if it will run Prime95 yet. UNFORTUNATELY it is stuck on the screen in the attached image until I can find a USB keyboard to plug into it and hopefully finish booting it up.

I also have to cross my fingers that if I am successful with the above that running Prime95 won't cause the outlet to spark and thus set my apartment on fire.
