Wow! Now that's impressive. Are you for hire? I could use someone like you in my corner.
Lol just applied to 10 Ph.D programs most of which public, so gonna be `cheap labor' for the next (insert average time to complete a Ph.D here) years.

Was that actually impressive well thanks. Felt like I was being unreasonable by pushing them too far. Perhaps my emotion got the better of me, My brain was telling myself `it is not about the money but the principle.' Oh my.

Every time when something happened that seems unjustified or ludicrous I almost always complain or point it out. Maybe I am naive in the way that believe everyone should be reasonable and considerate to others. :richd: What a time we live in.

Excellent quote, how appropriate lol.
Persistence (and I think justice too) prevailed!
I was, truly, writing a response to this post saying "Well done! Customers get the service they demand!" earlier today.

And, then, the power failed. About six hours later, after cooking and eating dinner by (LED) candlelight, the power returned.

Even though I had immediately thrown the main breaker, and then unplugged everything, when I tried to bring my sweet little "Burrow" back up, she was completely dead.

RIP...

I'm currently typing this on a 2 GB, 2 core laptop (with only one screen)!

My Raspberry Pi configured as a test workstation is actually faster, but it's not Intel, so the environment is not as familiar.

Sorry... Just had to share (and rant).

A bit of googling shows it possible, by both classical candles (actually the wax has a lot of energy!) and by LED lamps (some of them can be so powerful that would burn you to the bones in minutes! We build a 500W LED lamp not long ago, and you could not place your hand at 60-80 cm in front of it for more than few seconds. For Americans, that is about 30 inch ).

In Thailand people make some traditional cookies which are baked on top of a candle, they are quite famous and very appreciated by locals and some farangs too. We don't know their name but we call them something that could be translated in between "little candle cookies" and "boogers" (the stuff that come out of you nose), because they taste and smell like the former (burned candle wax), and look like the last, and we have in our language a word that means both candle wax and boogers.

One can buy them in local shops, and they are not cheap, in spite of the fact that there is nothing inside beside of some rice flour, sugars and spices, but probably they are hard to cook and somebody burns their fingers every time, so that's why. Did you ever burned your fingers on a candle flame to see how painful it is? I imagine somebody cooking those buttons one by one on a small candle, haha...

We do not buy them, but we get them occasionally as presents from Thai friends when there are some local celebrations. It is a common present Thai people make to each-other on special religious days, we do not know which. We tried few times to eat them and even succeeded, but usually they end up given to somebody else who appreciate them, or thrown in the rubbish bin, where we found out that the even the ants wouldn't like them...

I'm sorry to hear that. And apologies for asking, what exactly is a ``Burrow'' is it a computer? Either my English is terrible or I don't get that reference. :confused2:

I hear you. :missingteeth:
what exactly is a ``Burrow''
burrow or barrow, is slang for a slow computer, short from wheelbarrow, imagine a vehicle with no engine, but you use pedals or push it around with your hands, to do some work (in this case, computing). The slang is quite used in hackers/gamers/computing enthusiasts' circles

I will venture that "burrow" has something to do with rabbits.

I find that I have lost the function of the ke_ between "u" and "t". Have to find out if one of the other boards around here will fire up.

I wish it were so. Z does what is expected. T(_)U does nothing.

Well that was easy. Thank Dog for Logitech Unifying Software. Now I just have to re-adapt to the different Home-End-Delete arrangement.
