Sure, I just think the whole story from the seller was :poop:. They aren't telling the truth. That is enough IMO to stop purchasing from them.

Flooding resulting in a road closure. There are only two ways in to my neighborhood by road. The closure is of the more efficient route. That route has a segment that at last check a few days ago (before closure) was under 7 inches / 17 cm of water. Flooding the pavement occurs about twice a decade. The roadbed really ought to be raised about a foot at its low point.

What I was told was this kit had passed through a reseller of the retailer.

The GM is new, and promised to demand a full report from his "team", and that this would never happen again. Not to us, nor anyone else.

And, yeah... I should have noticed at the time of purchase. But I didn't inspect the purchased kit until I went to install it. In all honesty, I had to have one of the sales people load the bag into my vehicle because I couldn't carry it (it also contained a PSU).

And while "in the land of plenty" there are many options for doing business, when you're on a tiny little island it is often better to work with your suppliers to ensure good service, rather than simply firing them.

Hurricans...

Hey all. Tis the season to "duck and cover"...

I know I say this every year, but those in the path(s) should pay close attention, and be prepared. Have non-perishable food (including for your pets), and lots of potable water. Flash lights, water-proof matches (and/or lighters), a way to charge your cell-phone from your vehicle and/or a solar charger or USB battery, etc.

I find that people who haven't experienced this kind of thing first hand just don't comprehend how harsh a mistress Mother Nature can be...

P.S. Living in "Hurricane Alley", I watch the weather closely. Weather Underground is my personal favorite for real-time data.

I got laid off today.

The only consolation is that my boss said he was satisfied with my performance and that it was simply because the company was moving in a different direction. I also know I'm not the only one because quite a few people have also recently left. But until I get a new job, then that's only cold comfort. :\

Condolences ... "in a different direction", meaning "across the Pacific to Asia", or did they deliberately leave it vague?

I had joined as a QA engineer. Although my boss told me I wrote really good scripts, he said the company was shifting its focus from test automation.

Hmm, you were involved in QA, and the company is going in a different direction. That might not bode well for their customers. I think I've seen this play out before.
Bright side is, this is one of the best times in recent memory for finding a new gig. Here in the midwest, unemployment is so low that even low end hiring is offering signing bonuses.
