New bug with the v23.4 (or earlier)?
I run Prime on a machine using the 'start on bootup' option. Normally I terminate Prime if I was to run some applications and restart it after I have finished. However with the newer version of Prime95 if I have quitted Prime95 and restart it, when I log off windows it will also kill the prime95 process, instead of continuing to run.
Older version of prime does not have this problem. I am unable to isolate which version started this but it should be in version 23s. |
I hate it when code that hasn't changed one iota stops working! Keep me posted on any further details
|
Just a side note, something to make your life easier. I use the settings in the undoc.txt file to pause prime95 while certain other programs are running. Might be something to look into.
|
I have been using 'stop' instead of terminating the program. I am wondering if I am the only one experiencing this though.
|
Which OS? I have something similar on Windows XP.
|
The machine that has this problem is running an evaulation version of Windows Server 2003. I have not confirm if it happens on Windows XP but this DOES NOT HAPPEN on previous versions of Prime on the same machine. I am unable to isolate from which exact Prime95 version this started happening.

I'm running Windows 2000 Pro and I haven’t noticed the problem with the service stopping. I have mine set to where it tries to start the service at boot-up, log-in, and log-off, so its windows will be up when I start the computer, and then I can see the progress of an exponent.
Maybe 2003 manages services different than 2000. |
xtreme2k,
When you restart, do you restart the service or do you restart the Prime95 application? Applications usually stop at logout while services don't. But I guess you knew that already ..... |
I quit and restart the application. But with older version even if I quit and restar the application, the service will still run after I logout. This no longer happens with the newer versions of Prime95.
|
I think there are some changes in the way George re-implemented this option several versions ago. I'd recommend that you use net start/stop and see if that works.
|
Any change that Win 2K3 has some options like restarting a service automatically as it's failing??
