You write your own software to manage your own GIMPS related work.

You make charts and graphs to show progress.

You  when you realize that you are now in the top 1000 of credit in PrimeNet (L-L and Factoring) and GIMPS. :geek: :geek:
Sigh, I'm only at #2146 at the moment. But just wait until my biggest exponent ever finishes in a few days!

Uncwilly 2004-05-06 13:39

in a "former lifetime", you actually used a P90 to check 2 exponents in about 1 month each.

That was under a different name, but I did write to George to get the 0.2 credit moved to my current account....

You still use a Pentium 90, 24/7!

(Not guilty, but my slowest is a PII 166.)

Its finished! A 24M exponent! But my computer says its composite...

Still, that brings my rank up to #2002!
... when you took G.Palameta's C-port of E.Mayer's F90 implementation
of the CF DWT LL test and rewrote it in true C style,
reducing ~85 hard-to-read pages down to ~20 "readable" ones,
but would like some clues on how to actually make it run faster,
even on my PC snail!!

 :help:
You fully understand the previous post.

Uncwilly 2004-05-12 15:24

You see a car license with '971' on it and you feel like you are being taunted.

tom11784 2004-05-12 15:34

You get a customized licence plate with '20996011'

jinydu 2004-05-13 01:14

You are outraged when your request for a license plate number with 6,320,430 digits is denied.

I_like_tomatoes 2004-05-13 20:43

After you write a program that tells you that 7 is the digit that occurs most frequently in M40, you answer a bunch of questions wrong on a math test so that you can get 7/10.

PrimeCruncher 2004-05-13 20:55

After reading that, you wonder if 4 is the second most frequent digit in M40. You also wonder how many occurances of 47 there are.

Your first thought upon reading this is that it should make taking over those supercomputers/clusters you've been drooling over MUCH easier.
