Really? Current computers are powerful enough to factor trillion digit Mersenne numbers?!

And does anyone still want to estimate how long an LL test would take on that number using the Earth Simulator?

You can't wait for IBM to finish building the Blue Gene series supercomputers. (So you could hack into them.)

For some odd, inexplicable reason, the international man vs. machine chess championship is interrupted when the computers suddenly stop what they are doing and start searching for Mersenne primes!

...you're working on someone else's computer, look at the Task Manager, and see that the CPU is at 100% utilization. Your first thought it that this is perfectly normal, but then you realize that the computer is not running Prime95.
