24 hr run
 

Hi all,

Everyone is invited to make a 24 hr run on PRP Riesel testing starting on 20/10/2006 at [B]9pm[/B] (Zulu time).

so it will start on midnight portugal time ?

to be very accurate, will it start at 11pm utc or at the stats update of 11pm utc (around 11H20 UTC) ?

I made a mistake, it starts at 9 pm Zulu, 10 pm Portugal time. Can someone update my first post?

Sorry for asking, but I'm still relatively new to the project. You mean trying to get as many PRP tests run during those 24 using LLRnet (i.e. the online version) only, right? Otherwise one could cheat collecting offline tests for reserved ranges, or did I completely misunderstand the whole thing?

I guess I can do something between 100 and 200 PRP Riesel tests a day, am I qualified or should I look for challenges in a smaller league? :)

Michael,

The run is only for the online client version but you can join with your reserved k. For the stats it's easier to track down the 24 hours output because when you run in offline mode we don't know how many tests you have done in a certain amount of time.
Yes, the goal is to do as many tests as possible and to find a prime.

You're free to join us, we do it because it is fun and we tease each other on Free-DC forum.

it's especially fun to do a challenge in small project like that ...

for people allready participating, it add fun

and for the project, it can attract some medium to heavy hitter.
if we can multiply the daily output by 10 for 24 hours, it will for sure give us 1 prime, maybe 2 and if we are lucky, it will give 3 or more ...

multiply the daily output by 10 is not impossible (last time carlos taunted Helix, helix tripled the total daily output and found a prime in a 20 hours run)

myself i actually give 5ghz to the project and for short-time contest, i can add 11Ghz :cry:

the goal is to make a lot of prp test, to stomp a maximum of other participant and most of all, have fun :beer: and find primes :blush:

everybody is welcome to the contest. if you can't fight against the topscorer, you can fight against people in your range (try to stomp the man just in front of you :grin: or not to be stomped by the man behind you :sick: )

I'm slowly increasing my PRP power....So far two P4 3.0GHz and one AMD 64 3000+ (2GHz).

25 hours before start of the 24 hours run

to everybody: fire up all your power, turn on this old pentium 2, ask your friends to run the app, ...

in fact do your best to kill the stats and to find as much primes as possible

Don't forget that it is a PRP Riesel Base 5 24 hr rally.

Switching from sierpinski to riesel for the next 48 hours :>

Some hours before.... Now I´m online with all my power. 7 Ghz. Not really powerful, but :grin:
Come my little (big) prime, come to me :cool:

i go out just now for 2-3 hour (buying wood for the fire for winter) and then when i come back, iwill try to fire up a maximum power...

sure they will be on:
4.8 ghz (amd x2-4200)
4 ghz (2 amd xp 2500+)
2 ghz (amd sempron 3000)
1.4 ghz (centrino 1400)

if i get them running (power usage is limit here, i will not be able to cook :sick: ):
5 ghz (3 dual p3-866 :et_: )
0.3 ghz (p2-300 :down: )


total : 12,2 ghz (sure) + 5,3 ghz (unsure :down: )
grand total: 17,5 ghz

I got:

2 P4 3.0GHz, maybe three
1 AMD 64 3000+ (2GHz)
1 AMD 2200+ (1.8GHz)
and waiting for a few 2.5 GHz dual-opterons.

What's the measure in this 24hr run - tests completed or points?
Or a bonus for finding a new prime?

I think this is more of a collective push on the project than a competition. If someone finds a prime, then everyone can be thought of as getting us to that level faster.

6 minutes for the last 20 tests ... this morning it was 12 minutes and yesterday it was 20 minutes (one week ago it was 40 minutes)

good benefice for the project

here is the guess: 2 primes before saturday 22:25 portugal/uk time or 23:25 german time.

the finders will be:
helix (second choice: carlos) for free-dc
and
grafzhal (second choice: xentar) for rechenkraft

this is just a guess, i hope a third one for me ...

We have found 2 PRPs so far!!!! Currently undergoing verification. More details to follow.

when i say 200 k it means that before the end of the month we will find 4 primes as we are at 203 k just now !

michaf prediction is valid, but the most time will be spent on the last few primes (see seventeen or bust)

i know i'm very optimist

I assumed you meant a combination of both Riesel and Sierpinski, not Riesel alone.
