Funny thing, some people had already given up on their double-checks months ago. It seems that the exponents got reassigned to omre serious testers, lol.

No the exponents were not reassigned. They were poached.

As in people manually entering them into their Prime95? I was under the impression that there was a system in place to prevent people from "stealing" exponents.

Has it actually been confirmed that we have two matching residues for each of the exponents recently returned?

ixfd64: Yes by manually entering it into their Prime95. There is an anti-cheat system but it is not fool-proof.


@PhilMoore: Actually no so the thread is a bit premature. we have to wait till George comes back from his holiday on the 9th.

I guess it's for the better of GIMPS. I'm pretty sure that if the original double-checkers did return an exponent some time from now, they'd still get credit (I could be wrong).

But at least a triple-check is better than a double-check. :P
