msieve windows binary v. 1.30 is 279 KB long, msieve 1.32 is 560 KB long. What caused 100% increase of size? Compiler options, new features, or some debug info?

All of the extra size is due to GMP and GMP-ECM being compiled in. The official binary is actually stripped, or else it would be 1.2MB in size

The NFSNet factorization of 2,787+ is now complete. I continue to use what is now an older version of msieve. This computer has only 3 GB of memory, less than required for the construction of the matrix, but I allow it to continue to run while thrashing the swap file. This is of course very slow, so I have added a progress counter to build_matrix_core in this particular binary. Below is the edited log file:

I have the set of relations from an easy S151 SNFS job lying around, so decided to see what the impact of changing the filtering bound was.

I'm a little surprised that, whatever filtering bound I start off with, msieve reduces the filtering bound several times before producing the matrix.

With the default setting, the initial bound is 3.84M, and it goes down to 2.27M before producing a matrix. With other settings, I get

I start to wonder whether the filtering bound should be picked after an initial pass to remove relations whose norm-factorisations contain primes occurring only once.

I have some vague results for some much larger jobs on the computer at home, which I'll post tonight; I don't have the patience to run whole week-long matrix jobs on 150-digit-GNFS relation sets with several settings, but can probably gather together the patience to build the matrices and see how long 10% takes. Should I be filtering the more-than-200-million relations for 6,383+ with filter bound 1000000, I wonder?

When selecting filtering parameters by hand, and when using the CWI filter
code, I frequently set the final filter bound to be 250K.

Reducing the bound much below 500k increases memory usage sginificantly for very little improvement on filtering efficiency.
