Airport Check-in

TravisT made a point about most people here having seen a lot of puzzles before, and they are looking for something with an extra slant to them. Okay, try this.

A passenger is going on holiday, and gets to the airport with 5 bags weighing: 3.4, 4, 12.2, 14.8 and 18.8kg. She is allowed to take 20kg checked-in, plus one bag of no more than 7kg as onboard luggage. After that she has to pay the excess baggage fee which is calculated at the following rates:

1-10kg extra = $10
11-15kg extra = $20
16-20kg extra = $50
21-25kg extra = $80
26-30kg extra = $120

She has already tried getting rid of shoes, she pulled out one pair which saved her 1.3kg, but she really wants to take the other four pairs on holiday with her. She also tried chatting up a couple of guys to see if they would take her extra bags as their onboard luggage, with no success. What does she do?
What does she do?
Could you be more specific in what you want us to come up with, and what we are allowed to do in obtaining an answer?

Simple answer.

Hands over 80 bucks for fees.

As the question was posed as

Do you really think that the

Is what I'm looking for?

Try to be a bit more imaginative.

p.s. I'm not suggesting you should go to work with no socks on.

EDIT: On second thought I will spoilerize my possibly illegal attempt:
1) Check-in the 18.8kg bag, 12.2kg, and 3.4kg bags (paying $20 for excess weight)

2) Carry-on the 4kg bag

3) Pay 'someone' $30 to check in the 14.8kg bag (so 'someone' makes $10 or more if they are not already in excess of their check-in)

Our person now only pays $50
Not the answer I had in mind, but it's hard to find fault with this. Except that in today's increased security you would be hard pressed to find someone to check your bag as if it were their own.

So, now our traveller only pays $50 for excess baggage. Can anyone think of a cheaper option?
After she takes out here shoes, she devides the lugage in such a way that she carries 17 Kg on board luggage,
for which she has to pay $10 (payed at the gate?).

For the remaining 14.9 Kg she pays $20 when checking in.
Numbers 2006-01-04 23:58

I've never actually had my carry-on weighed, so I don't know how they could check that she had to pay $10 for hers. If she was honest and admitted it they would probably tell her that she was only allowed 7kg and anything else had to be checked-in. If she kept quiet about it she might even get away with it without paying the $10.

You're also being a bit fast and loose with this "rearranges her baggage in such a way" stuff. But hey, we're only talking about 0.5kg, a couple of towels or something, and in desperation she is a little less picky about how she does her packing. So okay, she does this.

Now we're down to $30. She's saved $50 already just by thinking about it.

But is there a cheaper option?

Sorry.

If a mod could amend that I would be grateful.

No, I was asking for the answer since it's been bugging me too long. :-)

You can PM it to me instead, that would save people the need for will power...

I have a feeling it involves
wearing some extra clothes.
Anybody remember that commercial where a guy going on an airplane
puts on so many clothes that he looks extremely fat?
Sorry Ken_g6, good guess, but this lady wants to look good at all times. She never knows when he might walk into her life!
