:coffee:
 I agree with you rogue: Barbara Striesand is not my cup of black tea with saffron (good for short memory). IMHO she should see a good plastic surgeon.
The fact that you judge someone by the way they look only further confirms
my opinion that you are a total retard. While the point may be argued as to
whether she is *the* best, Barbara is certainly one of the greatest singers
of the 20'th century.

It should also perhaps be noted that Barbara (and Celine Dion) have both
stated that they have considered plastic surgery and rejected the notion
because it might alter/damage their singling voice. If you were not such a
total idiot you might understand this.

I suggest that you should consider brain surgery. You need to have one
installed. :furious:

Having an opinion is one thing.

But calling people retards and idiots for having an opinion?

Unbelievable.

I cannot believe we continue to put up with this.

Not for having an opinion.

For continuing to post mathematical nonsense every time he writes.
See his recent assertions about "absolutely correct" in the discussion
about a coin landing on its edge. He totally fails to appreciate the
difficulties of the problem.

And I can not believe your double standard.

I clearly stated in my post "In my opinion"!!!!!!!!

But then again, it is OK for mfgoode to express an "opinion" that denigrates
Barbara Streisand based upon her appearance.

But it is not OK for me to clearly state "In my opinon you are a retard" based
upon his Barbara comment and the many absurd posts I have read that were
written by mfgoode.

Can you say "hypocrisy"? Can you say "double standard"????

@ Dr Silverman.

This has nothing to do with opinions, double standards, hypocrisy or anything of the kind. It is personal abuse, pure and simple. And it is absolutely not acceptable. No if, no but, not acceptable.

There is such a thing as basic human decency and respect for others, however much one disagrees. If you want to join issue with someone about a particular point, then do so in a reasonable way keeping in mind the possibility (however remote it might seem to you to be) that it can be possible for reasonable people to differ. As it is, these days you are far too ready to resort to abuse and denigration.

We should not have to put up with that sort of behaviour, be it from you or anyone else. If the Forum is to rehabilitate its reputation as a place for reasoned discourse, then it is time for the Moderators to use a firm hand whether the vituperations are directed to or from you. It need not become the preserve of shrinking violets, but neither should it continue its slide into the bear pit.

And yet another hypocrite opens his mouth.

mfgoode's statement shows complete disrespect for Barbara Streisand
based solely on her appearance.

But that seems to be OK. But my disrespectful comments to mfgoode
are not.

What a hypocrite.

Could the moderator please lock this thread? This was intended to be in good humor, but it has turned out quite sour.

"Good humor"? I found the entire set of the first few posts offensive.

99.94 2005-12-09 00:55

You can lock the thread, but that won't make the basic question go away. It is a point which this latest fusillade of abuse has only served to reinforce.

It appears to me that Mally's observations (I leave open the question of whether they are abusive or not) concerned a third party who is not a participant of this forum.

Yours, on the other hand, concerned an active participant.

I see an asymmetry there.
