That's ample reward for testing these semi-low-weight k<300 values. Nice find. -Curtis |
Congrats Kosmaj!

Congrats

HUGE prime and HUGE congrats Kosmaj! How many computers are you using? nuggetprime |
Thank you all! I was surprised myself. I began working on k=253 about half a year ago because it was the only k<300 with no gigantic primes (with more than 10,000 digits). I began at 1165k where Joss stopped. The majority of tests was done on a single 3GHz P-4. Currently one test requires almost exactly 100 minutes (5970sec for the prime) and I was about to stop at 1.75M. I have sieved values to n=3M through p=5T. The average "density" is 3.63 values per 1000 n.

Congrats! I hope you also find a prime for k=7, as that k is long overdue for a prime.

Cruelty, thanks, they were found during last 10 days. Sorry to hear about your dry spell. Trying to diversify in terms of K might be a good idea.
In the meanwhile one more prime over here  445419975*2^444256-1 (133744 digits) The previous prime for k=445419975 was at 301k and nothing until n=439597 the other day and 444256 now :surprised |

[Recently I appear in this thread only to congratulate the others on their primes... :w00t:] |
We are waiting for your k=7 prime
|
Finally a prime, from the 5th Drive, submitted together with BlisteringSheep:
129*2^690893-1 is prime! (207982 digits) I'm also waiting for the next k=7 prime, for more than 3 years now! Currently approaching 1.95M. |
Congrats to Sheep-- I'm happy to see him get credit on top 5000 for all the sieve work he's done for us.
My big sieve is done to 105T now because of him, and I'm starting my megabit hunt this week. It took me 5 months to sieve to 27T, Sheep 5 weeks to do the other 78T. I am both envious and thankful. When I find a megabit, Sheep gets half credit. -Curtis |

k=861 missing primes
In looking for heavy-weight k's < 2145 to test, I found k=741 and k=861 that stood out. Unfortunately k=741 is reserved (great k Karsten!) and k=861 has already been tested deeply. In doing so, I checked the top-5000 site for k=861 and found the following primes that are missing from our summary site:
861*2^70689-1 found 8/2000 861*2^630463-1 found 9/2006 861*2^645393-1 found 9/2006 Unfortunately it's not clear how high this k has been tested. Gary |
405*2^445231-1 is prime. (134xxx digits)

From the 5th drive
267*2^705028-1 (212238 digits) |

Note that 1034069 is also prime! :kosmaj: |
Congrats Kosmaj!
Soon there will be no place for non-megabit primes in our Top-10 :tu: |
Hey - congrats!!!
|
Thanks! This is only my second Top-5000 prime in more than 2 months since mid-May.
BTW, Cruelty, you have been rocking recently, with one megabit prime and two at the 900k level! |
