Congrats to 3 huge primes, 2 of them bigger than the first Mersenne found by GIMPS in 1996 (2^1398269-1). The primes found by Gimps in 1997 and 1998 are around n=3M, it will be very difficult to get beyond them.
By the way, I do this comparing just for fun  |

1003*2^482655-1 is confirmed prime (I re-found it just now, but according to both the 300<k<2000 page on rieselprime.org, it was already found by a guy called Hedges back in 2004).
A little disappointing to find that the prime was already found after the initial rush of excitement on seeing it in my results file (it would have ended a long personal dry spell for me, had it been new), but alas, that's what happens when people search k's in a hodgepodge way as was done with k=1003. |

This is the right thread. You are the only one who posts primes in k<300, so you got it right this time. We post reservations and updates there, and primes in the "post primes here" thread. Logical? -Curtis |

Logical? -Curtis
Oh, okay. I always thought you were supposed to post everything related to k<300, both primes and reservations/statuses, in the k<300 thread. But, you're right, it does make more sense to post all the primes here. In that case, then, could a mod please move my post about my earlier k=157 prime to this thread? (It's currently in the k<300 thread.) |
