It lets you type Tex formulas, and it parses it to MathML, so the server doesnt need to do anything, it would be cool to have it in the forum too :wink:

This is such a useful reference for teX anti-talents like myself - by making this thread [b]sticky[/b] it is easily referenced and available to newcomers.

Vertical positioning
 

Would it be possible to vertically center the inline images of the TeX snippets? Compare [tex]\left(\frac{a}{p}\right)[/tex] with :smile:; the smilie fits nice.

We have attempted to adjust the style sheet to accommodate your request.

Most likely we have broken something critical somewhere.

Maybe if you see a whacked out math formula image let us know?

Did you add the '<span style="vertical-align: bottom;">' around those images? It looks the same to me in Chrome (5.0.375.70), but in Firefox (3.6.3) it does look good.

Something to do instead that works in both Chrome and Firefox (and should work anywhere) is to make it align like the smilies are made to align: use the "inlineimg" class to the img tag, which adds the "vertical-align: middle;" style.

In Firefox 3.0.6, the height of rendered TeX snippets now seems to get ignored, with the consequence that formulae with large height such as [tex]v = \left(\begin{array}1\\2\\3\\\end{array}\right)[/tex] overwrite adjacent lines. That change should be reverted.
In Safari 4.0.5, the renderings are bottom-aligned as before, and do not lose height information. Hence no visible change.
