34M to 35M up to 2^60 - completed
I'll take this range up to 2^60 (apart from the 1/5 that is already 2^60 or better). It'll keep the slowest two machines busy for quite a while...
BTW, I did some timings, and my Athlon 900 was significantly [b]faster[/b] than a P1.8 at work. :? Have I make a mistake? |

Nope... Up to 64 bits the AMD will *smoke* a P4... If I ever decided to mass factor a large range of exponents like you all are, I'd buy a couple of XPs... I compared my 2400MHz P4 against Whilden's 1500MHz XP and his box was ~2.5 times faster up to 64 bits... Beyond that the P4 rules by a significant margin... |

So im guessing it would be ok for me to take these to say 62-64 bits then?

Definitely - no argument from me! My impression of how things work in this forum is that if the tester says they've completed the range (and doesn't also say they will take that range further) then it's open for anyone.
It's probably a good idea to start a new topic, where you can give details of your reservation, etc... |
Thnx markr. Im still a little confused on how I can keep my program from taking these things all the way to 68 bits, is it the override option i need to set to 62 if im going to 62 bits? Im going to run some tests to see how long this is going to take as this is my first time running any trial factoring.

Yes, you're on the right track. Two of the main things are to make sure "Use PrimeNet..." is unchecked, and to add these two lines to prime.ini:
WellBehavedWork=1 FactorOverride=62 (Change 62 to your limit.) One good guide is in the topic [url=http://www.mersenneforum.org/viewtopic.php?t=387]"How to start?"[/url], but there are others. I found it a really good idea to estimate some times... or I might have committed to two years of work or more! |

Taking these exponents to 62 bits is taking about 45 minutes on my 600 Celey :shock: . I havent had a chance to time my 800 Duron yet. If the times are really bad on the Duron I might just commit to a partial set of these. I will commit to atleast 34-34.1 atm. The current work on my Duron is supposed to finish on Friday, but its on my main computer so it might be sunday before I finish. Ill keep you guys posted once I get some times on my Duron.

Those times seem normal. So doing it in chunks of 100k might be a better idea.
