Performance
What kind of daily performance/range for sieving can one expect from a P4 3 GHz w/ HT, 1 GB RAM.
Just curious. |
I tested with an identical system and got nearly 300 kp/sec, so almost 26G per day.
btw.: P4s are very bad for sieving - a P3/800 is more than half that fast! I'd propose doing PRP tests instead, or combine both to increase overall throuphput. P.S.: Welcome aboard! |

I have a duallie PIII 733/133 that I'll put to use sieving, more than likely and I'll task the P4 3 GHz with the bigger chores available. Any suggestions for an AMD XP 1800+? I also have a Celeron 400, but I think it works well as a doorstop. |

An AMD XP1800+ is a sieving machine. It will do more then 1G per hour.
The P4 is for PRP tests depending on the FFT len it will do a test in 2.5 to 4 hours. Also depending if you run something else on that machine. Lars |
