"Other server" down
Apologies in advance if this is not the proper space for discussing this, but I noticed that since yesterday the server holding replicated data of the Mersenne domain (status/cleared reports, copies of software, and the like) at http://tuatara.sdsu.edu/~mersenne/ appears to be down.
My understanding is that this extra server is not under direct control of the Mersenne community - and thus its availability is somehow more fluctuant - reason for discussing here is just to understand if this is expected to be a temporary discontinuity, or a more radical one. Any input is appreciated. ric |
It's back up now. Something had occurred to the OS which I was unable to resolve remotely. I was finally able to get to it today and reset things. The server has been running near continuously for a little over a year. Sorry for the downtime, it was unexpected and of course had to happen when I was away.

Archive down (briefly)
A preemptive note.
I'm aware the archive server is down. I'm working on getting things back up and running again. It appears that the IDE controller failed. Instead of trying to patch-fix the existing server, I am now working on putting together another machine to replace it. I'll get the data transferred over and send word when it's back up. The newer archive server should be faster and more reliable. Standby. |
post specs also are you gonna run prime on it ;) :w00t:

Intel motherboard, Pentium 4 2.53GHz, 533MHz bus, 1GB DDR RAM. RAID1 (mirrored) 80GB drives.
OS is FreeBSD, and this time it's thttpd as it's web server. Pretty fast but most importantly, stable. Was there any doubt that it would be running mprime? Of course it will. Back up and running
The new archive server is back up. Notice that the default directory has changed.

I need to take the archive server offline for a few days beginning today, Thurs, Dec 8.
Since I'll be working on several servers in that farm I might as well take this opportunity to do some hardware and software work on it. I'll post when it is back up and working again. |
Give it a deep cleaning -_-
Quote me Computers make the worlds most efficant air cleaners. |
Are you talking about mersenne.org webserver?
I noticed that its down almost each day for some hours and if its up then its very slow mostly. I could mirror it somehow if you want!? Or maybe it would help if you just redirect the static parts and downloads of that Homepage. Just tell me if can help somehow! |
No this is the backup data archive delta is kind enough to run this seperate server that stores a copy of the mersenne site and the ftp directory backup.
